Commentary: The Nexus of Poverty, Hunger, and Homelessness in New Mexico

This article is a commentary on the nexus of poverty, hunger, and homelessness in New Mexico. The discussion explores how people perceive the poor, the ideological constructs that contribute to making poverty, hunger, and homelessness invisible, and the hegemonic discourses that attribute being poor, hungry, or without a home to individual shortcomings while ignoring structural forces. The author argues that the myopic vision created by these constructs and these discourses results in ideological self-delusion that will require a deeper understanding of these issues to achieve a more just and equitable society.
