Meditation of a former political prisoner on the heightened fear of crime in the United States, its impact on civility, and the preponderant victimization of the poor by the poor. The author states the need to organize our communities so as to redirect the force of crime elements responsible for its development, the rich, through education and political consciousness-raising.
